At Tung Chung Kindergarten, we are strongly committed to partnership with our parents. Building a strong home-school partnership is always one of our school priorities.
Parents are invited to parent information and orientation sessions at the beginning of the school year and other parent workshops offered throughout the school year. Please refer to our regular newsletter for upcoming parent workshops and events details.
We also have scheduled private parent-teacher conferences to discuss your child’s progress. Should the need arise, from either a parent’s or teacher’s perspective, further meetings are scheduled as required. We report against each unit of inquiry through regular posts on class blogs and weekly parent eNewsletters. Families can access these through the ESF app.
Parents are also invited to participate in our parent volunteer programme. This is one way we endeavour to work in close partnership with all our families.
At TCK, we welcome the children’s ‘important adults/carers’ to join our parent participation opportunities (i.e. parents, grandparents, helpers). These participation opportunities could include:
- Parent Experts
- Cooking volunteers
- Mystery Readers/ Storytellers
- Shared Learning Days
- Special Festival Helpers
- Outdoor learning volunteers
Parents are invited to sign up for various volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We welcome parents to share their experiences connected to our unit of inquiry.
Parent Workshops and webinars
As part of our commitment to working with parents as partners, Tung Chung Kindergarten offers several workshops during the year. These are delivered by teaching staff and sometimes by outside providers to allow parents to develop a further understanding of our programme and relevant issues concerning early childhood development.
We aim to support our community by offering presentations and workshops that cover a meaningful range of topics, relevant to our students each year. These may include, for example;
- Supporting your child to develop meaningful friendships
- Managing conflict and social skills development
- Therapy and support in the Early years
- An introduction to our volunteer programme
- An overview of our Unit of Inquiry
